My name is Aaron Nell (he/him), a landscape designer based in Brooklyn, NY. I
graduated from Auburn University’s MLA program in 2019, working my first position in
Southern California. I’ve been in Brooklyn, NY since the beginning of 2021, working at a
small firm in DUMBO since May 2021. At my current role I’ve worked mostly on projects
either quickly approaching construction or in construction, developing details and planting
plans, managing CD sets and nearly all aspects of the construction process, as well as
engaging in a creative role in a number of design projects, being the lead designer on a
community garden and a tree signage program at a public landscape in Chelsea, NY.
I’m engaged in landscape architecture for its capacity to reckon human nature to
non-human nature. I’m compelled by narrative in the landscape, and how we tell the story
even as we change and become a part of the story. I am inspired by the inherent radicality
of public space especially in a time of desperate need for climate resiliency.
