The D.I.N. project is an idea that I initially began for a competition on future public space, for which I decided to pursue a different project. D.I.N. (Denizen Interaural Nonnetwork) is an app that would allow the user to post an audio recording (song, poem, thought, etc.) to a place. Other users of the app would hear that recording within earshot of that geolocation for 24 hours after it is posted. My prediction is that its users would post with the same (often toxic) anonymity of other platforms, but with a different intention as no one will hear their two cents unless they visit the physical space in which the post was made within 24 hours of its posting. The experiment is a kind of anti social media where agency is hyperlocal and ephemeral, and experience is a cacophony of sounds and voices that express the good and bad of the city, the din of its inhabitation.
